[A shady old man walks into a kitchen where there's a shady old man....which would be the start of a joke, but its what's happening. Hansa lifts his eyebrows when he sees the other, giving him a short wave.]
[He can get away with it this time because the rest of what he says is very distracting. He sighs deeply as he puts some oil in a wok he's heating up.]
How about never? Is that an option? Because I think I'd like that one. [He knew this was going to happen he was just hoping it wouldn't.]
Haha. Sorry. That isn't an option. Look on the bright side! Just think of it as a confessional. I'm obligated to the utmost secrecy with these kinds of things.
Do you really think I'm the blackmailing type? Come on, Raven. I just want to know the man underneath all the...whatever you call whatever you're doing.
[Being a pervert? Probably. Hansa leans against the counter, smirking.]
....Hm. If you tell me, I might show a little of what Chiron got to see.
[He tenses up slightly at the implication that his persona here is something he's "doing," an act. But no, surely it's not that transparent. He breathes deep and settles himself before adding the vegetables to the wok.]
When you say stuff like that it sounds like yer coming onto me. [Which... he truly hopes isn't the case. Anyway.]
... It's my heart. Or something taking the place of it, anyway.
Hm. It is. The Lord offers comfort even in the darkest times. As long as one's faith is strong, and one's path is just, He will lead you out of dark forest and into the light.
[And he recites, like he's recited it a million times before:]
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
[A long pause.]
Unfortunately, the Lord does not offer any specific answers for "what to do when you're in the middle of this horrible mess and losing memories on top of it", but that's how it is.
It sounds nice, having something like that to believe in. [Almost wistful. He envies that faith, a bit. He certainly can't share it, because he's been dead. He knows what's beyond this life. But he's not going to say shit to Hansa and try to ruin his faith, because that's a level of mean he's not willing to travel to.]
Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and on Monday we'll wake up having forgotten this week ever happened.
[He corrects, but its not meant as a jab, just as a gentle reaffirming of his own beliefs. Sure, maybe he's not as connected or devout as some of the others in the Church, but his body isn't the way it is without reason. His faith is in the way he's allowed himself to be changed, to elevate him to a level where he can perform the Lord's work with the power and ability it deserves.]
Haha. Though would that be a good thing? We need to take the bad memories with the good. It helps us learn from our mistakes.
week 0 post execution
Hey there. Making something?
no subject
Yeah, stir fry. You want some?
[Just gonna act like there isn't a weird vibe around the terrible secret.]
no subject
[Yeah he's coming over to see what you're cooking.]
Didn't take you for a cook, honestly.
no subject
[Don't got around telling people!!]
no subject
[Says Hansa, a year younger.]
Now, do you want to talk about your little jewel now, or after you've made this? I hardly want to get in the way of the making of a fine meal.
no subject
How about never? Is that an option? Because I think I'd like that one.
[He knew this was going to happen he was just hoping it wouldn't.]
no subject
[do u hate him yet]
no subject
And what're you gonna do if I refuse? Tell everyone else?
[Is this a blackmail situation? Because that is exactly what he was worried about.]
no subject
[He just barks out a laugh.]

[LIKE. SERIOUSLY.]
Hm. So it's keeping you alive? I guess not everyone where you come from has something like that.
[Because why be so cagey about it?]
no subject
Yeah, until recently, I thought this was the only one in the world. It's not the sort of thing that ought to exist.
no subject
[His weird gem thing that's his heart shouldn't be allowed to exist?]
So, what, are you keeping it against your will? You don't want it?

week 1 saturday after trial
No this isn't that at all. When he spots Hansa, he sighs.]
... Hey. Sorry fer gettin' snippy at you earlier.
no subject
[He's just staring into the water, pensive, eye flitting up to look at Raven before moving back to the water.]
...I understand. [A beat.] I knew where you were coming from. It's fine.
no subject
[Yet.]
But I do think you could stand ta handle the kids with a little more gentleness. I ain't apologizin' for that part.
no subject
[He just shakes his head, smiling to himself briefly.]
...I'm not going to coddle children, Raven. I'll treat them kindly, of course, but in situations like that...
[He falls silent for a moment.]
Anyways, what's done is done.
no subject
Yer religion any help when it comes to situations like this?
[Convert me, Daddy Hansa.]

no subject
I feel like I've had more than enough bad memories. Can't I lose a couple?
no subject
[He would make a smart remark to that, but he turns to Raven instead, his expression serious.]
Raven...at the end. What you said. Do you mean that?
no subject
[Mostly he's just stalling.]
no subject
You don't want to keep living, the way you are.
