[ He huffs, disappointed. He knows the importance of keeping secrets, can't have worked as a spy for decades without knowing it well, but god damn is it infuriating sometimes. ]
At least that's something. Me, I personally don't allow myself to think things will be bad. I wouldn't call myself an optimist, but...expecting the other shoe to drop is just miserable.
But really, what's the point of that? Sure, the shoe will drop. But maybe it will be tomorrow, or in a week, or in a year. If you just keep yourself in perpetual misery, you're locking yourself away from any possible happiness you can find.

You tell me. You're the one with all the highs and lows this week.

Hm. A cheer to...second chances.
[A raise of the bottle, before he just downs it all, wincing.]
Ooh. That hits the spot.
no subject
Still got your sense of taste, then, I see.

[A sigh, as he leans his chin against his hand.]
Anyways...thank you. How are you doing?
no subject
I'm...fine. It's not like much happened for me, anyway. [ Not compared to whatever the hell Hansa had going on, at least. ]

[And he looks over at Vezda.]
That can't be true. I mean, we all went through this mess, and it turned out well. Anyone would say that's a lot to happen to them.
no subject
That's true.
...You didn't seem all that surprised when he survived, though.

[A grin.]
A pretty little bird told me that things might be okay. I didn't know how, but it seems like it was the best version of "okay".

Fine, fine.
All's well that ends well, anyway, right?
no subject
[He's smiling.]
Its good to have a little hope, don't you think?

he shrugs. ]
What can I say? I haven't had a lot of use for optimism in the past.

Oh, sure, of course. Not optimistic, but a future nonetheless.
