In the grand scheme of things, yes. In the moment, however, it can yet feel as if time moves slowly enough.

I think it certainly merits our attention, although I would caution against assuming the description to be perfectly literal. A monster need not be a beast.

Both are possible, just as it is possible that it truly is beastly. But without knowing more of it, I could not rightly say-- I only know that this all seems too complicated an arrangement to be dealing with something that lacks its own awareness and motivations.
