But how would you counter a wish? With another wish? And how’s that a cure for anything?

Hmm.
Maybe it's more about...resisting the wish? Resisting temptation. To avoid the easy path, and accept that you will get what you want, but you will take the hard way to it.

I guess. We'll have to see. At the very least we have to find a way to make sure that people don't turn into monsters.
