I think it certainly merits our attention, although I would caution against assuming the description to be perfectly literal. A monster need not be a beast.

Then what do you think it might be? A person? A force?

[arkitect]

Both are possible, just as it is possible that it truly is beastly. But without knowing more of it, I could not rightly say-- I only know that this all seems too complicated an arrangement to be dealing with something that lacks its own awareness and motivations.

So...you want to understand this monster first, before seeing about going after it.

Going after it without information on its nature will avail us little. Beyond that... it must be located in the first place, to even think of going further.

[robopriest]

[He frowns.]

Maybe its already here, especially with all this chaos we have.

[arkitect]

Mayhap it is. But I was informed the places we are given leave to visit are places it has left in its wake. I would wager we are still catching up.

You mean, that pirate village...that space place...those are all remnants of its dinner?

If what I was told holds true? That seems to be exactly the case.

[He just closes his eye, shaking his head.]

Sure wish they told us about that before all this mess started.

As do I, but it does seem that much is held back. I do not believe we know why we visit such places yet.

[robopriest]

Maybe to gather the leftover nova that the monster didn't get to? I mean, those worlds seem rather intact...

In all ways except one, yes. They certainly do.

[robopriest]

They seem otherwise normal. If it is consuming nova--

Then it is feeding not upon the places themselves, but upon what produces that nova. Going to the very source.

[he was settled in, he's gotta get up... but it won't be long before he lets hansa in, though he sort of just. pops the door open and then steps back, to allow them both to keep their emotional space bubbles.]

Actually, a bit of both. [A welcome distraction, about a topic he wants to talk about.] I just wanted to get your thoughts on this whole..."nova splintering".

Well, loathe as I am to confess to it, yesterday was the first I had heard the concept broached.

[which, yes, he definitely sounds miffed about. people who do not abide being out of loops well: emet-selch.]
